1. Delete in the app
The fastest way — takes under a minute:
- Open the Glee app and sign in.
- Tap Profile.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation screen and tap Delete my account.
You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion has been processed.
2. Request by email
If you have uninstalled the app, cannot sign in, or would rather not use the in-app option, email us instead:
Send the request from the email address on your account and include:
- The subject line “Account deletion request”
- The full name and phone number on the account
If we cannot match the request to an account — for example if you write from a different address — we will ask you for further proof of identity before we act. This protects you from someone else deleting your account.
3. What we delete
When your deletion request is processed, we permanently remove:
- Your account profile and login credentials
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your saved and favourited events
- Your table booking and guest-list history
- Any content you submitted, such as reviews
- Your newsletter subscription and marketing preferences
- Support correspondence linked to your account
Deleted data is removed from our live systems immediately and purged from encrypted backups within 90 days, after which it cannot be recovered.
4. What we must keep
A small set of records is retained because Kenyan law requires it, or because we need it to prevent fraud. These are kept in a restricted form, separated from your account, and are not used for marketing or any other purpose:
- Transaction and accounting records — order value, date, tax and payment reference. Retained for seven (7) years under the Tax Procedures Act, 2015 and the Companies Act, 2015.
- Records relating to an unresolved dispute, chargeback or refund — until it is concluded.
- Limited fraud-prevention records — where an account was closed for ticket touting, forgery or payment fraud, we retain enough information to stop the same person re-registering.
- A record of your deletion request itself — to evidence that we complied with it.
This is permitted under section 40 of the Data Protection Act, 2019, which allows retention where it is required by law or necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
5. How long it takes
- In-app deletion — processed immediately; confirmation email within 24 hours.
- Email request — acknowledged within 2 working days and completed within 30 days, as required by the Data Protection Act, 2019.
- Backup purge — completed within 90 days.
6. Before you delete
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Please note:
- Tickets you have already bought are not cancelled or refunded. Download or screenshot any upcoming tickets first — you will lose in-app access to them.
- Active memberships are not automatically cancelled. Cancel your membership separately before deleting, or recurring charges may continue.
- Upcoming table bookings will be released, and deposits are subject to the venue’s cancellation policy in our Terms & Conditions.
- You cannot recover your booking history. Request a copy of your data first if you want it (see below).
7. If you only want to remove some data
You do not have to delete your whole account. You can also:
- Stop marketing emails — click unsubscribe in any newsletter, or change your preferences in the app.
- Correct your details — update your name, email or phone number in Profile → Settings.
- Request a copy of your data — email us and we will send you an export within 30 days.
